At the gates of a convent (which is now home to the City Hall) there was a large basket holding a child of only a few months. The nuns brought up the child as a little girl, since no males were allowed in their community. As time went by, the nun who had taken the child in died, and the new nuns were unaware of the secret. One of them unwittingly discovered the masculine body of the nun and reported this to the mother superior. The “nun” insists that he was a little girl, and thinks he is just like the rest of them. Despite his pleas and crying and excellent behaviour he is expelled from the convent. The legend goes that a short time later he died, alone in a ruined house, either from grief or hunger. | |||
